Backscatter X-Ray Tomography (BSXT)

BSXT is a novel NDE/NDT technique capable of single-sided, non-contact 3D imaging of aerospace materials. BSXT is uniquely suited for inspection of large structures with no access to the back side (e.g., spacecraft, aircraft). The resulting scan is a 3D image, similar in presentation to CT data.

Typical BSXT applications:

  • Inspection of large structures for internal damage and structural defects

  • Detection of delaminations in multi-layer structures

  • Detection of corrosion under insulation (CUI) in pipelines

  • Reverse engineering.
